DVSCP staff provides empowerment counseling for any adult who has been impacted by domestic violence. Counselors focus on minimizing the stress of domestic violence, providing emotional support, and improving the individual’s coping strategies in the client’s immediate situation. During the course of crisis counseling, staff assess client needs, provide safety planning, offer support and education, and determine potential referrals for the client. DVSCP has also contracted with a Certified Clinical Trauma Therapist, who offers both individual or group therapy for survivors who may benefit.
Counseling sessions are available by phone, zoom, or in person.
Children's counseling is offered to children five and older impacted by domestic violence or teen dating violence. Counseling is used as a tool to empower children, provide intervention, create safety plans, and identify needs. When necessary, children/teens are referred to mental health providers and early intervention services.
Counseling sessions are available by phone, zoom, or in person.
